I woke up this morning and saw a feather in my bed
I knew it was from you because it’s time for you to shed
Even though you’ve never been near my covers
We’ve always dreamt of being lovers
Lovers for real, lovers for life
You even invited me to be your wife
I was very confused and didn’t respond
I convinced myself you weren’t the one
Between the days and nights there grew a bond
We fished, we laughed, we always had fun
You taught me things I’ll always treasure
You’ve always given me so much pleasure
You are the one who has taught my son to be a boy
He loves you as well as I because you’ve brought us such joy
You’ve always watched over us even when we’re asleep

I know God loves you and gave you to us
Some day we will see you in Heaven
But until that day comes I’ll sleep very sound
Because you are my guardian Angel around
I have proof I saw it for myself
I kept your feather in a safe place on my shelf
