I was reading in II Timothy today and I came to the passage that Father Tim likes so much about the cloak and the books, II Tim:13 and I had to keep on reading because I was studying the entire passage for the bible study I was working on. The next verses caught my eye--vs. 14 "Alexander, the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works." This struck me as odd since coppersmith is Cynthia's maiden name and the charcter of this coppersmith in the passage.

I wonder if Jan got her last name from this verse and if so why she chose such a terrible charcter as this one. Just some thoughts on Cynthia's name that I wanted to share with you.

Warmly,
Beth

It is interesting, Beth.

I wonder if Coppersmith was Cynthia's name from her marriage or if that was her maiden name. . .AHA - now that I have read ALL of your post I see you already have the answer. . .

I've always liked Cynthia's name because it reminds me of "copperplate," which I guess is a kind of beautiful script -- in old novels they sometimes say, "She writes a beautiful copperplate hand..." -- and since Cynthia's an artist, it fits. Out of curiousity, I just did a "google" search for "Coppersmith" & was surprised by how many folks have that name -- I've never known anyone called Coppersmith, although I've known some Goldsmiths.

Pasty Lynn,
I was not sure about the name--maiden or first marriage. I put maiden but thought maybe I should not have. Maybe JK will see the post and reply.

Warmly,
Beth
